May is one of the best months for women’s sports. The WNBA has officially tipped off, the NWSL is in full swing, and we’re about to name a PWHL champion. From professional to college sports, women athletes are competing for championships and continuing to grow the game.
But May is about much more than competition. Because it’s also Mental Health Awareness Month. For too long, we’ve struggled in silence with our mental health in favor of our physical performance and results. By bringing awareness to mental health, we can truly thrive—mentally, physically, and emotionally.
If you’ve ever struggled with your mental health, you know the challenge of knowing where to start. That’s a big reason why this year’s theme for Mental Health America is, “Turn Awareness Into Action.” The goal is to teach us how to take action to improve our personal mental health and as part of the mental health movement.
