Kansas City is at the Front of the Current Wave of Investments Into Women's Sports

The Kansas City Current defeated the Chicago Red Stars 3-1 Sunday during the last game of the regular season. But the club’s legacy goes far beyond their accomplishments on the field. Owned by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife and former collegiate soccer player, Brittany Mahomes, the Current is in its second season as an NWSL team. The Mahomes’ investment in the team sets the tone for future investments and growth of not only women’s soccer, but women’s sports as a whole.
