Training outside in the winter is an added challenge to our training. But at the end of the day, that’s all it is: a challenge. And as women athletes, we’re used to overcoming challenges.
With the right game plan, training outside in the cold can make you stronger, mentally and physically. Follow these five tips to stay warm, train smart, and get after it, even when it’s cold outside.
Use the right gear. Layers are the name of the game for training in the cold. And it’s not just about staying warm, it’s also about staying dry. That means pairing moisture-wicking base layers with wind and water resistant outer layers. As you sweat, you can remove or swap out layers, especially between your warm up and your workout.
