Today, we’re time-traveling.
Did you know that you can look at results on Google that were published within certain date ranges? This means that you can get an idea of what a Google search would have looked like in the past.
Well, VIS community, that’s exactly what we’re doing today to get an idea of how far we have come in facilities for women athlete care.
In 2020, searching “female athlete programs at hospitals” would have returned results for two centers dedicated to female athletes: The OSS Health Female Athlete Clinic and the NYU Center for Women’s Sports Medicine.
As the years progress, we start to see a few more clinics pop up from Google searches: The Dayton Children’s Hospital Center for the Female Athlete, and the Hartford Hospital Women’s Sports Health Program in 2021; the Mass General Brigham Women’s Sports Medicine Program and the University of Kansas Health System Female Athlete Program in 2022; the Duke Female Athlete Program, the Boston Children’s Hospital Female Athlete Program, and the Emory Healthcare Women’s Sports Medicine Program in 2023; the Yale Medicine Female+ Athlete Program in 2024; and, finally, the Female Athlete Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado in 2025.
Let us be clear: these programs weren’t necessarily founded in the years they started popping up on Google, but they were less visible for some reason.
