NWSL fans have been putting the world on notice.
Since opening weekend, they’ve shown us what happens when a league is truly supported.
The NWSL kicked off the 2026 season with attendance records across the board, from first-time games to returning crowds:
Boston Legacy FC played their inaugural game for 30,207 fans. At the time, that was the largest crowd ever for an NWSL club’s first game.
Seven out of the eight opening weekend matches drew more than 10,000 fans.
Both the Kansas City Current and the Washington Spirit sold out their home stadiums.
That momentum didn’t stop with the season kickoff.
Since opening weekend, the Portland Thorns won their home opener in front of a record crowd of 21,321 on March 20th and the Denver Summit shattered the NWSL record for single-game attendance in the first game at Mile High Stadium with 63,004 fans at Empower Field.
And the best part of this? Debut teams are making veteran-level impacts.
