June marks Pride Month—a time to honor and uplift LGBTQ+ voices, histories, and rights. In women’s sports, Pride is more than a celebration; it’s a powerful reflection of progress, inclusion, and VISibility. At a time when LGBTQ+ rights are slowly being rolled back and increasing attacks in our sport community, VISibility matters even more.
Increasing access and participation to LGBTQ+ athletes is something we need to strive towards every day. So this and every Pride Month, we’re celebrating the growing visibility and impact of LGBTQ+ athletes in women’s sports—a space that continues to lead the way in inclusion and representation.
According to a 2022 Outsports report, over 40 openly LGBTQ+ women competed at the Tokyo Olympics—the most in history. In the WNBA, more than 25% of players are openly LGBTQ+, making it one of the most inclusive leagues in professional sports.
