On Friday, August 15th, the Atlanta Dream played the Seattle Storm in a home game… 2,770 miles from Atlanta. The Dream and Storm faced off not in Seattle, Atlanta, or a neutral location between the two. Instead, they played in Vancouver, BC.
The Seattle Storm narrowly defeated the Atlanta Dream this past weekend, winning 80-78. The Dream outscored the Storm 23-13 in the final quarter of the game, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Storm’s 12-point lead heading into the quarter.
The Dream’s electric last quarter was made even more exciting by the fact that the game snapped the Dream’s six-game win streak and the Storm’s six-game loss streak. And yet, that’s not what players were talking about in their post-game interviews. Instead, they talked about the energy in the stands.
VIS Mentor and Dream shooting guard Rhyne Howard said that the energy in the stadium made it feel like they were playing a Storm home game. Brionna Jones, VIS Mentor and Dream Center said the same about the atmosphere, commenting on how enthusiastic the crowd was.
