Let's Talk Uniforms

The governing powers of sports consistently control the bodies and appearances of women. There is no better example of this than the small, tight uniforms many athletes are forced to wear. Recent NCAA uniform rulings have put the focus back on the athlete’s abilities, but there is work to do, yet.

The sexualization of women's bodies through their uniforms shifts viewers' gaze to their attire, diminishing their play, athleticism and worth. This sexualization is, in part, driven by the media and entertainment industry in an attempt to gain more viewership. However, It is unacceptable that women’s uniforms are catered to the male gaze.
