Don’t Just Shrink It and Pink It

As women athletes, having proper fitting sports gear is essential to feeling our best and performing at our best in practice and competition. Sadly, most major retail stores in the sports industry use male models to create sports gear, using a method called “shrink it and pink it” for women’s products. We sat down with VIS Expert and Biomechanist, Gauri Desai, PhD, to discuss the major anatomical differences between men and women, the history of male-centered sports gear, and companies who are paving the way for more women-specific athletic gear.
