How the Washington Spirit’s Quarterfinal Match Mentally Prepared Them for the NWSL Finals

Playoffs bring a variety of emotions, and the excitement and nerves can contribute to some sloppiness. This was no different for the Washington Spirit. Even though they won their quarterfinal matchup, the players know to take each win as a learning experience as they keep advancing. Spirit platers Trinity Rodman and Aubrey Kingsman talked to us about how they use a bad performance to fuel their future.

The Washington Spirit won 18 games during the regular season, tying the NWSL single-season record with the Orlando Pride. Beginning their playoff run last weekend versus Bay FC, this was the Spirit’s first playoff appearance since they won the championship in 2021.
